International Office

LWAC’s vision on internationalism states that a college graduate is highly qualified to be a leader that shapes the face of education and society according to local as well as global values. The college aims to promote intercultural understanding and international awareness within the curriculum, in all disciplines and areas of expertise, including sports and music.
LWAC fosters graduates who are sensitive, contemplative and critical thinkers, creative, research-oriented leaders, innovators, activists in their community and work environments and beyond, exhibiting a global set of literacies required in the digital era.

LWAC promotes graduates’ cultural understanding and compassion, their inclusion of minorities and vulnerable populations and their belief in their students’ academic, social and affective abilities and strengths. LWAC welcomes preservice and in-service educators who strive to further develop their professional capabilities and broaden their professional opportunities within school boundaries and beyond, in local and global contexts and locations, and in different cultural and religious contexts.

In sharing knowledge, skills, and innovation with international partners, we can also generate opportunities to raise academic standards both nationally and internationally. As our approach to international engagement is based on partnership, our objective is to foster motivation and engagement among students and staff, to further our international partnerships.

Our Goals

  • To provide a range of quality international academic values, studies and training to individuals who seek a profession in the fields of education – from preschool to secondary education, including special education, in STEM and humanities, physical education – including sports training, active recreation, dance, and rehabilitation through movement – and in music education – including music therapy;
  • To provide national and international perspectives in complementary and supplementary studies, continuing education, and in-service studies for teachers and other professionals working in these fields of expertise.
  • To promote national and international perspectives in professional training for teachers, leaders and additional roles in the fields education, physical education and sports, and music education;
  • To generate research in the fields of education, physical education and sports, and music education with international partners;

International Initiatives

  1. Emphasis on international values, e.g., pluralism, tolerance, exposure and encounters with different populations, and development of teachers with international awareness and a sense of global citizenship via local and international initiatives;
  2. Partnership in Erasmus+ Capacity Building in Higher education Projects;
  3. COILs: Collaborative Online International Learning – joint online courses with institutions abroad. These courses include an online component for cross-country communication and joint tasks. Some include visits of groups of students and staff;
  4. Staff mobility: Erasmus+ bilateral agreements with a growing number of institutes and locations in Europe, focusing on several topics (e.g., teacher education, music education, sports education, mathematics, science, literature, English). The growth of internationalization over the past 3 years is exhibited in growing staff awareness of the need for internationalization.
  5. Student mobility: growth of internationalization over the years is a result of national policy of the Council of Higher Education regarding the need to expand student mobility and expose students and faculty to the international arena.
  6. Visits of delegations from institutions with which we have agreements for cooperation.
  7. MOUs – Memorandum of Understanding, emphasizing intents for cooperation.
